I cannot help but look to nature as my creative muse. The beauty and complexity of the natural world teach me when to draw back, allowing the quiet of the unknown to reveal the depth of what is to come. Excellence and desire must be balanced with humility and grace—the grace to recognize moments between impulse and reaction. To find the silence in chaos and the stillness within great movement—that is where I see the brilliance of nature as a catalyst for the study of dance; of life.
I prioritize excellence by empowering dancers, inviting them to explore their depth of power and capacity.
I encourage opportunities within our practices that dissolve perceived boundaries and limitations .
I welcome possibility and coax curiosity.
While honouring lineage I invite a depth of inquiry that holds our physical, emotional and mental health in the highest regard .
From my perspective, the study of dance extends beyond learning techniques and codified processes. It is deeply rooted in both our individual and collective capacity to explore, cultivate, and elevate one other, for the stries of our lives are afr gretaer that
we move, we breathe, we connect, we choose.
My experience is varied, and my interests run wide. I have facilitated workshops, adjudicated festivals, hosted community movement projects and taught professionals dance artists, aspirants, Olympic qualifying national -level gymnasts and folks with mixed abilities.
I have served as a senior ballet faculty member at HarbourDance Centre in Vancouver and as a guest instructor for several professional and pre-professional dance companies, studios and formal institutions,
including but not limited to; Tanzcompanie Mainfranken, Ballet BC, Contemporary Dance Wyoming,
STAYCEE PEARL dance projects & Soy sos, Decidedly Jazz DanceWorks,
Corps Bara Dance Theatre, Lemondance, DanceStreams Youth Company, and Henny Jurriëns Studio in Amsterdam.
Furthermore, Jill's commitment to education led her to serve as an Adjunct Professor of Contemporary Dance at the Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, USA.
Cultivating our own practice includes relational skills. Dancers are connected to one-another in ways that are both unique and wonderfully generative. Point Park University. COPA. Pittsburgh, USA
